UNC Asheville Alliance officially opposes the North Carolina proposed constitutional amendment on the basis that this amendment will directly harm our members, our students, the Asheville community, and all North Carolina's citizens. Alliance firmly believes that government should never discriminate, exclude, or single out any citizen based on a minority status. North Carolina law is meant to protect all citizens, this amendment would offer no protections, no benefits, and would directly harm an already oppressed group of people. All people deserve equal protections under the law and this is why Alliance officially opposes the North Carolina proposed constitutional amendment.
